COPE at Wiley research seminar, Japan

Trevor Lane, COPE Council Member, gave an invited plenary talk titled “Research Publication Ethics - Best Practices for all Stakeholders” at the Wiley Research Seminar Japan 2018, which was held in Tokyo on 5 August 2018. The talk highlighted global trends and best practices in scholarly publishing, the role of all stakeholders in promoting and providing training in publication ethics, and the support provided by COPE to both its members and non-members.

Themed “Shaping the Future of Research and Discovery”, the one-day continuing education event consisted of 17 presentations by Japanese and international speakers in plenary and breakout sessions covering multiple angles of the evolving research publishing landscape. Throughout the day, there was a special focus on sharing insights in developing and implementing standards related to open science/research and open data. The research seminar was attended by about 80 senior professionals working in research and/or its global communication in the academic, publishing, corporate, and non-profit sectors.
