Medical Editors, short course

This two-day course for editors of medical journals (running since 1996) covers how to attract and keep good authors, how to improve the quality of your content and ensure you are publishing something people want to read (and cite), and how to make your journal more visible to readers and authors. With only c.25 participants, the course concentrates on group and practical work rather than formal lectures – active participation is encouraged! A folder containing extensive notes and background reading is also provided.

EASE/ISMTE joint meeting

COPE will be holding an interactive workshop at the joint meeting of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE). In this workshop, a number of cases based on real-life examples brought to COPE, and covering some of the most pressing problems currently faced by editors and journals, will be discussed.  Co-Secretary Andre Van Steirteghem and council memebers Mirjam Curno and Irene Hames will be chairing the workshop. The workshop will take place on Tuesday 24 September.

Seventh International Congress on Peer Review and Biomedical Publication

The Seventh International Congress on Peer Review and Biomedical Publication will be held September 8-10, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois. As with the previous congresses, the aim is to improve the quality and credibility of biomedical peer review and publication and to help advance the efficiency, effectiveness and equitability of the dissemination of biomedical information throughout the world.
