COPE is committed to improving editors' abilities to deal with publication misconduct. Given the time-pressures on editors and the fact that COPE has members around the world, we have decided to develop an eLearning programme for editors. This programme aims to give editors a deeper understanding about publication ethics and practical guidance about how to detect, prevent and handle misconduct. The programme will cover plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, redundant publication, selective reporting, unethical research, authorship, reviewer misconduct, responsibilities of editors and conflicts of interest. The course will use the COPE database of cases and the flowcharts, and will provide links to other relevant resources and organisations.
The first modules will be available in early 2011. Other modules will be rolled out as they are ready.
The eLearning package does not lead to a qualification but members who have completed the modules can print out certificates of participation.
The eLearning package is only available to COPE members so you will need to log in before accessing the eLearning modules here.
