James Kigera (he/him) is the Editor in Chief of the Annals of African Surgery, a publication of the Surgical society of Kenya. Dr. Kigera earned his medical degree from the University of Nairobi and his masters degree from Makerere University in Uganda. He also holds a PhD from the University of Nairobi.
He is an orthopedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgeries after several fellowships in the USA and India. He is also a lecturer at the University of Nairobi's Faculty of Health Sciences. He serves on the councils of the Surgical Society of Kenya and the Kenya Orthopedic Association where he is a past president.
