Anyone with an interest in publication ethics, including non-members of COPE, are welcome to attend. To submit a case for discussion at this Forum, please email the COPE administrator with a summary of the case. Cases must be completely anonymised. The deadline for case submission is 1 November 2013. Those presenting a case should be at the meeting in person, if at all possible. Call in facilities may be available. This two-day course for editors of medical journals (running since 1996) covers how to attract and keep good authors, how to improve the quality of your content and ensure you are publishing something people want to read (and cite), and how to make your journal more visible to readers and authors. With only c.25 participants, the course concentrates on group and practical work rather than formal lectures – active participation is encouraged! A folder containing extensive notes and background reading is also provided. This course is ideal for editors-in-chief, editorial board members and senior managing editors. COPE will be holding an interactive workshop at the joint meeting of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE). In this workshop, a number of cases based on real-life examples brought to COPE, and covering some of the most pressing problems currently faced by editors and journals, will be discussed. Co-Secretary Andre Van Steirteghem and council memebers Mirjam Curno and Irene Hames will be chairing the workshop. The workshop will take place on Tuesday 24 September. 5th EQUATOR Annual Lecture will be presented by Professor Kay Dickersin, Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Director of the Center for Clinical Trials, and Director of the US Cochrane Center (USCC).
