1st COPE South American Seminar – Brazil, Monday 12 November 2012

COPE is pleased to announce its first seminar in South America, to be held on Monday, November 12 (8:30 am to 5 pm), in Brazil. The meeting will take place during the annual meeting of the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC), at the Costão do Santinho Resort, Florianópolis, 300 miles south of São Paulo. Medical Editors Short Course

7 November 2012 - 9:00am to 9 November 2012 - 5:00pm

Now in its 16th year, this course will enable editors to make their journal more successful. It includes how to develop journals to raise the quality of submissions, sharpen focus, improve relationships and efficiencies with authors, other editors and reviewers (and publishers!) and how to ensure that the journal is delivering something that readers want to read (and cite).

The course is ideally suited for Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board members and managing editors.

COPE North American Seminar and Forum 2012

The theme of this year’s seminar repeats that of the recent successful European seminar, “Correcting the literature”, which will encompass all of the issues involved, including why corrections are needed, the appropriate ways to deal with them in terms of expressions of concern, corrections and retractions, the scale of the problem and what can go wrong. Editors, publishers, authors and all those interested in publication ethics are welcome to attend. The Seminar is free for COPE members and $300 US for non-members.
