27 May 2020 - 8:30am to 29 May 2020 - 3:00pm

Event cancelled

Deborah Poff, COPE Chair, and Rachel Safer, COPE Council are speaking at this sponsored session on: Rethinking equity, inclusion, and ethics in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences to future-proof standards in research communication.

In 2019, COPE partnered with Routledge, Taylor & Francis, to explore the publication ethics issues editors were experiencing across these fields. This has resulted in the first ever in-depth study in this area.

This session will introduce the work of COPE and explore the results of this research. We’ll then focus on some key ethical issues identified by AHSS editors by asking the audience to work through actual cases brought before COPE.

Such interactive case workshops are highlights of COPE events, as they allow participants to explore how to they define, promote and reinforce publication ethics standards.

Topics of focus will include:

  • Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism
  • Hoax articles
  • Promoting equity and inclusion
  • Authorship and AI
