Vivienne Bachelet

Vivienne C. Bachelet is founder and editor-in-chief of Medwave, an international, general biomedical peer-reviewed journal; and founder and managing director of Medwave Companies, devoted to continuing medical education and epidemiological studies. Vivienne is a tenured professor and researcher at the Facultad de Ciencias Médicas of the Universidad de Santiago de Chile.

Vivienne is a medical doctor by training, with unfinished postgraduate studies in sociology. She holds a diploma in critical analysis of biomedical literature, and she is currently candidate to a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from Universidad de La Frontera.

As of the last quarter of 2016, she joined the faculty of Universidad de Santiago de Chile, in the School of Medical Sciences as academic and investigator. Her appointment is ¾ time and it partially covers my duties as editor-in-chief of Medwave.

She is a member of the Chilean Medical Association and the Association of Health Economics of Chile. She is also a member of the Socialist Party of Chile, where she advises on health policy.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, going to concerts and the opera, and dancing salsa. But mostly, she enjoys spending time with her three German shepherd dogs.
