Dr Marie F Soulière is Head of Publishing Operations with the open access publisher Frontiers, based in Switzerland. She studied Pharmacology and Biochemistry at the University of Sherbrooke, in Canada, before moving to Austria to conduct postdoctoral research in Chemical and Computational Biology at the University of Innsbruck. With 12 publications, a patent and a large number of presentation awards to her research record, she then started her career in open access publishing. She has since worked to improve dissemination, access to and quality of research and published articles, with a specific focus on research integrity, quality peer review and maintaining ethical standards, balanced with an emphasis on operational efficiency and automation.

From her role as Journal Manager of a portfolio of journals in Genetics, Molecular Biosciences, Pharmacology and Chemistry, she became a Program Manager for the Physical Sciences / Engineering and the Humanities and Social Sciences Programs of journals. Since 2016, she leads teams handling all aspects of the Frontiers Collaborative Peer Review process, and more recently also the production and publication of articles. She has been heavily involved for a few years in developing Frontiers’ artificial intelligence review assistant (AIRA), and is a member of CrossRef's Similarity check group.
