Journal avoids the 're-review nightmare'

The Journal of Biology (published by BioMedCentral) is changing its peer-review process, apparently in response to reviewers and authors who disliked their previous system of sending revised papers back to reviewers for further comment which one described as 'the re-review nightmare'.

You can get more details from http://jbiol.com/content/8/1/1.

It would be interesting to hear whether other journals routinely send revised versions back to the reviewers and, if so, how reviewers (and authors) respond.

Concerns have been voiced by experienced journal editors about this new model of peer review (me included) - see “here”: http://network.nature.com/people/noah/blog/2009/01/29/should-authors-dec... for details and thoughtful comments.
